Together, we offer permanent exhibits, seasonal events like Pumpkin Palooza, and free, County-sponsored field trips and school assemblies that make recycling, composting and sustainability fun and accessible for students and families across Orange County.
Greener Pathways
Free, OCWR-sponsored Greener Pathways programs guide 1-6 grade students on an illuminating journey into the world of waste management and recycling. Our programs empower young minds by teaching them how to sort their trash and compost effectively, emphasizing how these actions contribute to a healthier environment. Through engaging field trips and assemblies, we provide grade-specific lessons aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), ensuring each student understands the importance of waste management. Pumpkin Palooza
Pumpkin Palooza is an annual collaboration between OC Waste & Recycling and Discovery Cube Orange County that encourages residents to compost their Halloween pumpkins instead of sending them to the landfill. Through hands-on activities, educational exhibits, and pumpkin collection, the event helps families learn how food and yard waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich compost, promoting sustainable waste management and environmental stewardship throughout Orange County.

Permanent Exhibits
Our partnership with Discovery Cube Orange County supports permanent, hands-on exhibits that help children and families explore recycling, composting, and sustainability in an engaging way. Shop ’til you drop! Kids zoom through the market in this interactive shopping game as they learn about healthy and eco-friendly shopping choices. Through playing, guests learn about recycling and taking care of the environment with our touch screen shopping carts.
