OC LANDFILLS NOW ACCEPTING TREATED WOOD WASTE

Please Review This Notice Carefully Prior to Disposing of Treated Wood Waste (TWW): 

BEGINNING APRIL 16, 2021 THRU SEPTEMBER 18, 2021 , OC WASTE AND RECYCLING WILL BE ACCEPTING TREATED WOOD WASTE (TWW) AT OUR FRB LANDFILL. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO DISPOSE OF TWW AT THE OLINDA-ALPHA LANDFILL OR PRIMA DESHECHA , YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY.

 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW PRIOR TO DISPOSING TWW AT OCWR LANDFILLS:

  • You MUST obtain and bring to the landfill a variance through DTSC. To apply for a variance please click here .
  • You MUST complete the OCWR hazardous waste manifest prior to unloading. For a copy of FRB, click here
  • Do NOT mix TWW with other waste.
  • Coated or painted TWW is NOT accepted for disposal.
  • Only Bowerman is accepting TWW as of April 16, 2021.
  • Homeowners choosing to transport TWW yourself will need a variance. However, if you choose to hire a hauler securing the variance is the hauler’s responsibility.

 ADVISORY FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF TOXIC SUBSTANCES CONTROL:

This notice is to advise you that in order to transport a hazardous waste, you must either be a registered hazardous waste transporter, or have received a variance from the Department of Toxic Substances Control. Further information on becoming a hazardous waste transporter or obtaining a variance can be found on DTSC’s website at the following link:

Failure to follow hazardous waste transportation rules may subject you to fines and penalties.

Treated Wood Waste (TWW) is wood that has been treated with chemical preservatives to protect it from insects and decay while in use. Examples of TWW include fence posts, sill plates, landscape timbers, pilings, guardrails, and railroad ties.
