Only municipal solid waste from commercial haulers and vehicles operating under commercial status is accepted. Frank R. Bowerman Landfill is a commercial-only landfill. NO PUBLIC DISPOSAL.

ABOUT FRANK R. BOWERMAN LANDFILL
The Frank R. Bowerman Landfill is a state-of-the-art, Class III, municipal solid waste landfill. Opened in 1990 near Irvine, CA, it is one of the largest landfills in the state and the ninth largest in the U.S. The property spans approximately 725 acres of Irvine hillside with 534 acres allocated for waste disposal. It is permitted for 11,500 tons per day (TPD) maximum with an 8,500 TPD annual average. The landfill has enough projected capacity to serve residents and businesses until approximately 2053.

The Bowerman site exemplifies environmental and engineering excellence. Opened in 2016, the Bowerman Power Plant is an award-winning, public-private partnership producing enough electricity for the City of Anaheim to power 26,000 homes. It demonstrates the valuable assets Orange County’s landfills provide through industry-leading renewable energy technology.
Several environmental protection systems and demonstrations of engineering leadership are featured at Bowerman, including a nature reserve, landslide mitigation area, heat vents, drainage improvements and erosion and sediment control systems. More information is available below
